A downloadable game for Windows

This is a rough indev build for my game Broadside Renegades. This version should be reasonably stable with an in-game tutorial provided. Currently only on Windows.

The game was first inspired by Vampire Survivors with active abilities, as is evident by the UI. In the process of building things out it has evolved in the direction of being a pirate raiding game, and you are rewarded more quickly with upgrades for pursuing cargo ships and other gold targets. This however also raises the threat level, and the game scales with how aggressively you play. The first, and eventual future and final bosses will pursue you between warps as you raise the threat level during the course of your run. Warping removes a good deal of threat, but can only be done when you gather enough fuel. Currently there isn't a final boss, and the run is effectively endless.

Notes:

-3rd ship needs a rework more than likely. If you play this ship and like it let me know ASAP to save it's current iteration. (Most people do not like it)

Most helpful feedback:

-Fun. First obviously, did you have fun? Did you want to beat your previous gold?

-Controls. They are intentionally ship like and may take some getting used to. Is turn radius too punishing? Controller testing is highly appreciated, especially non-Xbox.

-Pacing. Still deciding how quickly a run should begin and end. This is easy for me to adjust, so more a matter of player preference (should I give "slow" and "fast" game options? Currently the threat bar fills very quickly meaning a run is "short", though is also currently endless. Eventually a final boss will show up when the bar is full.

-UI, Currently the game has mostly been tested on a 1080p monitor and a 1600 * 900 monitor. Is the UI understandable. Are the items placed well if you are using a different display?

Lastly obviously any bugs. I'd love to know what kind of error text popped up in the event of a crash.

Thank you for giving my game a try!

Fatal Crash when I killed a supply ship on the first mission...

Was it the tutorial or a normal map? Do you remember which ship you were using?

I think it was after the tutorial ended and I warped, I called in a supply ship then crashed, I was using the basic (?) ship.

OH I should have an easy hot fix by tonight, I forgot to take that item away (the call in item is only for the tutorial, after that the cargo ships spawn automatically) Thank you so much!

Reproduced and should be all clear! Thanks again!

Alright, played it.
Even though I sorta hate Vamp Survivors, I think this game could work.
The controls are horrible, most of the time you can't get a hit off on anything while anything can get a hit off on you, and yes some of the upgrades alleviate this, but the starter weapons should still be useful.
Also, the upgrades I picked in my run were actually not all that useful.

Overall, it's an okay concept with as much promise as other Vampire Survivor clones.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am deff planning on buffing most of my early weapons (also including the defaults) and most of the yellow items (I find myself mostly picking weapons meaning they aren't as useful as they should be!). I'm going to try increasing projectile speeds on manually aimed things like the broadsides as well to make the timing less restrictive. The fighters weapon IS garbage as I had nerfed the ship heavily before adding in ship on ship collision (now it needs a massive buff).

As for controls, do you think it largely comes down to how restrictive turn radius is? Or the boat control concept in general? I want to do another pass on it as it seems to be the love/hate area for a lot of people.
